Tektite Glass is a gnarly lava-like material that Josh originally derived from the chemical formula of a real glass meteorite. This rough, grainy glass has an uncooperative mind of its own. When it's molten, Josh can coax and guide it, but ultimately the glass does what it wants.
In Tektites, Josh contrasts this coarse material against the silky smoothness of his signature New Mexico glass. Each geode-like sculpture evokes the idea of a meteor hurtling through space for millions of years, then bursting open upon entering our atmosphere, revealing an entire universe inside.
