Vintage 1991 Bubble Vase
Josh started making Bubble Vases sometime in the 1980s after salvaging a rusty, 19th century “bubble trap” mold from the flooded basement of a defunct West Virginia glass factory. Each piece begins as a thick gather of clear glass that gets dunked into a toothed mold, then extracted and blown out, then layered with more glass - which preserves the countless tiny bubbles that were created in the mold - and then shaped into a unique Simpson form.
4.5" tall x 5.25" diameter
The polished base is serialized 7.3.91 and signed Simpson.
